Work-Life Balance

My brother-in-law Dave sent me a great article the other day by Travis Bradberry the author of Emotional Intelligence 2.0 (good book, by the way). This particular piece was about setting boundaries so we can attain a
work-life balance (link below).

I will postulate that of the 8,000+ people who read Bradberry’s article and gave it a “thumbs up” – very few, if any, will EVER do anything to change the imbalance. They will have thoughts like “so true” but will quickly discern the “truth” which is “that won’t work for me.”

We are now working before work, after work, and on vacation! This “need to respond” triggers a prolonged stress response which is incredibly unhealthy! We have created a life in which we are never able to relax and truly disengage from work. Today, I am asking you to ask yourself this: Why won’t I set boundaries or make changes that will improve my health, my relationships, and my work-life balance? Now set 1 boundary! Just 1!

To Your Health,
Beth
