Yesterday I gave a motivational talk to our local high school lacrosse team. During our Q&A, one of the young ladies asked me how to increase her confidence. Well, isn’t that the question we are all asking ourselves in some part of our life?
Here are five of the reasons we lack confidence: Seeking perfection, harsh self-judgment, fear, lack of experience, and lack of skills. Now let’s look at the definition of confidence which is the belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities. Is it possible that our self-confidence is sabotaged by our own lack of belief?
Take one area where you lack confidence – now challenge that thought with the 5 reasons we lack confidence. Are you seeking perfection or an unreasonable expectation? Are you judging yourself too harshly? Are you afraid? Do you lack either experience or skills? You might be the one blocking your own confidence. Try a more compassionate approach. I hope your answers increased your self-confidence! You got this!
With Gratitude,
Beth
P.S. If you lack experience or skills, then double down in that area and seek improvement.
