Friday’s Quote

“Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.” ~ Michelangelo

Of the 7 traditional subdivision of the Arts (Architecture, Sculpture, Painting, Literature, Music, Performing, and Film), only one is about elimination. The sculpture chips away at the parts of the stone that are not wanted or needed until he has created a masterpiece.

Essentially, sculptures don’t make anything out of the stone, they find something in it. What’s hidden inside of us? All we have to do is chip away all of the parts that don’t make up the biggest and best versions of us. We can chip away the negative and disempowering thoughts, the victim mentality, and the “I’m not good enough” beliefs. What would we look like if all of that “stone” got chipped away?

Michelangelo also stated, “I saw the angel in the marble and I carved until I set him free.” I am not sure what you see when you look at yourself or who you would like to set free, but I do know you are the sculpture. Decide today what you want to chip away—permanently. The chisel is in your hands and always has been. Let’s use it!

With Gratitude,
Beth
