What would happen if everything was gone. Imagine somehow that everything you hold dear gets taken away from you: family, job, friends, home, everything. Poof: It’s all gone. Does this make-believe scenario make you feel like someone just punched you in the stomach like it did me? Where would you go? What would you do?

Now imagine that you can have everything back. Are you relieved? Did you realize how blessed you are? And how successful? And yes, even how happy?

Look, we all wish life could be easier. As Gwen Stefani said the other night on The Voice, “Why is being a human so hard?” Could you be happier? Sure. Richer? Absolutely. But the truth is your life is pretty great right now! If you’re waiting for the smooth road—it isn’t coming. Love your life as it is. You are blessed beyond measure. And as my dear dad used to say when I asked him how he was doing, “I’m breathing aren’t I?” That alone is a pretty big deal. Count your blessings.
