Is it possible I take better care of my watch than I do of myself? Actually, the answer is, “Yes!” Doug and I were gifted Apple watches for Christmas from our children. It was a fantastic gift and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed using them daily. But like all of our technology, it has to be charged on a regular basis so that it will continue to work. So every night, before bed, I place my watch on its ever so cool charging dock so that it will be ready to serve me the next day. I rarely, if ever, forget because it’s a priority so that it will continue to work.
But I can’t say the same about me. And, now more than ever, I believe making sure that we are “fully charged” each day is vitally important. Why have I taken better care of my watch than myself?
Today is the first day of Lent and we are 1-year into a pandemic. It’s a perfect reset day. Ask yourself, on a scale of 1-10, how good are you taking care of yourself? There’s physical care like healthy food, sleep, and exercise, but there’s also mental, emotional, spiritual, social, etc. Take a moment to honestly rank yourself. My watch gets a 10 out of 10 daily, but I definitely can’t say the same about me. The watch also stops working after about 2 days without a charge, and the same may be true about me. It’s time to reset! Are you with me?
With Gratitude,
Beth
