In Sadness

I never talk about politics here and I am not going to start today. Some may misconstrue what I am about to say as political, but I assure you, it is not. I don’t watch CNN and I don’t watch Fox News—ask anyone who knows me, and they will confirm this fact. My thoughts today are strictly that of a mom. I cannot overlook what happened at Robb Elementary School yesterday. Children should be safe in school! Children should be safe. Period!

Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors gave an impassioned plea for gun control at his press conference that made me cry. Again, I am not familiar with the bill he is talking about, but can we please make our children safe? I agree with what he said, “We can’t get numb to this,” and “I am tired of the moments of silence—ENOUGH!” Matthew McConaughey whose home town is Uvalde, said ““This is an epidemic we can control, and whichever side of the aisle we may stand on, we all know we can do better. We must do better.”

How can we make our children safe? How can we stop the gun violence. Other countries seem to do it better. I don’t know what the answer is, but we are smarter than this. 21 sets of parents are grieving the loss of their child today. That’s not O.K. I wrote this post today for all of the 21 victims. It’s not political, it’s about humanity.
