Motivational Monday!

On our flight home from Colorado last night, we were so happy to get both the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Eagles games on the inflight T.V. When we finally realized that we could watch the Yankees game, I saw a very close call at first base being replayed over and over again from every angle. It was Aaron Judge, I believe, who tried to outrun an infield hit. The umpire called him safe. I thought he was out. Regardless, what I noticed as they replayed the hit was how long Judged watched the ball before bee-lining it to first base. Even after he started down the line, he took another gander at the ball. Base Running 101: never watch the ball.

Aaron Judge certainly knows how to run the bases, but sometimes, the things we do best become mundane—and then we start to forget the little things. It’s the little things that make the difference. The hotel we stayed at in Aspen, The Little Nell, cared a lot about the little things and it showed. When we arrived at Denver airport, nobody cared about the little things—and it showed. And when we arrived in Newark…well, you know. Ah, the little things!

So whether you are a Major League Baseball player, a hotel employee, or anything else on this lovely planet, the little things ALWAYS matter and when we start to forget that, we lose our edge. Today is a reset day. Let’s remind ourselves of all the little things and how important they are. If you want to be average, the little things don’t and won’t matter, but if you want to be extraordinary, they do!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
