Motivational Monday

As you know, I’ve been traveling a lot recently. I love traveling, but not like this. I only had a day or two in between trips, and then back out again. The last trip was to Boston to visit my daughter and instead of jumping on a plane, I drove. Driving is always a double-edged sword for me—I love the freedom that comes with driving my own car, but I hate getting lost or even taking a wrong turn, especially when it’s in a city.

My fastest route to Boston, from our new home, suggested that I go over the George Washington Bridge and through the Bronx and Yonkers. This sounds simple on paper, but it is nothing but! If this is not familiar territory, it is downright terrifying. The number of lanes merging, the aggressive nature of all New York City drivers, and volume of traffic alone would cause someone to pull over and cry. You may have been in a similar situation in your life. The whole scene was acutely distressful, but then I thought about you and me.

If we want to go anywhere, whether that is physically like me to Boston, or metaphorically like a new job, we can’t sit at home where everything is safe and comfortable. We have to be brave and venture out. We have to accept the fact that we WILL have to go through something like the Bronx, but it’s OK! It can be navigated, we simply have to be courageous, we have to have a plan, and we have to know if we make a wrong turn we do not park the car and give up! We make a quick adjustment and carry on! If I can make it to and from Boston, through the Bronx, we all can do just about anything! I promise you. So…

Let’s GO!! WE GOT THIS!
