(Im)·possible

How many people do you think crossed the finish line in the New York City marathon on Sunday that, at one point in their lives, said, “I could never run a marathon!” Around 48,000 people finished. The youngest finisher was an 18-year-old woman and the oldest was an 88-year-old man. They turned the impossible into the possible.

When I mention any athletic comparison, like the marathon, many people dismiss the analogy altogether because they aren’t runners or some other kind of athlete, but then we miss the point, right? The NYC marathon is one example of turning the impossible into the possible. Everything is POSSIBLE. One runner was 88 years old! Everything is POSSIBLE!

So let’s look at the impossible today in our lives. What would happen if we decided, just like that 88-year-old runner, that IT IS possible? What would change? Where would the doubt go? Would we be filled with conviction and fortitude? Oh, yes we would! Impossible is a mindset—but so is POSSIBLE! I say this repeatedly, and it’s true—what we think matters! Think possible!
