Over the weekend, while visiting our dear friends in Delaware, they shared a video of Eli Manning going undercover at the Penn State Football walk-on tryouts. Actually, they don’t call it walk-ons there, more accurately Penn State prefers to call it run-ons—no walking there! If you’ve never seen the video, you have to watch it! It’s hilarious…and heart-warming.
Penn State Football is one of the most prestigious college football programs in the United States, so to walk on and try out at Penn state takes a ton of courage! Penn State is already getting the best possible talent for their program, but the “Run-on Tryout,” implies, “Maybe there is more, maybe there is someone we missed.” They added 9 players to their roster in 2022 from their Run-on Program. Can you imagine if you were one of those 9?
What I got out of this 15-minute video was young men courageously playing their hearts out for something that can only be described as a life-long dream—earning a spot on the Penn State Football team and becoming a Nittany Lion. Failure was absolutely an option and maybe even expected, but these men took the risk anyway. Better to know then to spend the rest of their lives wondering if maybe they could have made the team. This is us, too! What is your dream that you don’t want to question, down the road, “I wonder if I could have….(finish that sentence). Now’s the time!
