A (Really) High Price To Pay

On February 7th, I will be talking about confidence in my Leadership Masterclass. As I was going over my slide presentation yesterday, I had a moment of reflection. Although the majority of this one-hour class will be about ways in which we can increase our self-confidence, I was struck by the ramifications of what it means to be lacking self-confidence.

The cost of low self-confidence is staggering. The costs include, but are not limited to: stress, anxiety, physical and mental illness, lost happiness, lost relationships, lost profits, lost business, lost career opportunities, etc. We have all experienced lack of confidence at some point in our lives, perhaps even daily, and it’s not a good feeling.

There is a high cost for low self-confidence, and if we can avoid it, or at least minimize it, then we will be in a much better place. Many people make a New Years Resolution to lose weight, workout, and eat healthier—a physical diet. But what if we made a better New Years Resolution? What if we went on a mental diet and cut out all of our negative self-talk? What if we fed our mind positive messages about ourselves? What if we became aware of how self-sabotaging we are to ourselves on a daily bases? Finish this sentence please: If I were more confident, …”

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
