Waterboys

Yesterday and my lack of water story was all about what I didn’t have at my disposal. It didn’t matter how much money someone had, everyone in Hoboken was on an equal playing field—if you lived here, you did not have running water. So the past 36 hours filled our minds with thoughts of lack, scarcity, and, to a certain extent, fear.

This morning, I am happy to report, our water has been restored! And even though it is still running a tinge brown, we are all basking in the abundance of this very overlooked and under appreciated resource. Today, I am going to leave my scarcity mindset behind and focus on all the abundance that surrounds me. As Joni Mitchell sang in her song, The Big Yellow Taxi, “You don’t realize what you have until it’s gone?” And I don’t think she was talking about water, but maybe.

Do you have an abundance mindset? Have you ever taken the time to look around and see all of the abundance around you? Let’s try it today. Start with water (a personal one for me right now!) Move on to friends and family. Acknowledge how abundant you are in talent/knowledge and experience. Add in health, remember if you’re breathing that’s a really good start. What about your home, and your clothes, and we haven’t even gotten to the refrigerator yet! Keep going! Abundance surrounds you. Take a deep breath and breath in all your blessing. Be grateful. 36 hours ago I was not grateful for water, and now I am overwhelmingly so!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
