“Better to pass boldly into that other world in the full glory of some passion than to fade and wither dismally with age.” James Joyce
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Top o’ the morning’ to you! I’m finally home and writing again. I thought James Joyce would be a good Irish lad to quote today and his words fall in line with what we discuss regularly. This is one of those quotes that at first glance, we all say, “Yes! Passion is how I (want to) live—I certainly don’t want to “fade and wither dismally with age.” No one intentionally wants to “fade and wither dismally with age,” but some do.
So today, let’s look at our passion. What is it that you (and I) are passionate about. What are we fighting for, working toward, or otherwise committed to? This doesn’t have to be a non-profit, but surely that would be a good starting point.
What’s your passion? What causes a stir inside of you? According to Merriam Webster, “passion” refers to a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement either for something or about doing something. Give it some thought, but don’t leave without answering the question for yourself. And I will leave you with a great Irish proverb,
“May you live to be 100 years, with one extra year to repent.”
Happy St.Patrick’s Day!
Beth
