Motivational Monday!

Yesterday afternoon, around 4 pm, we realized we needed to walk the dogs. It had been a rather dreary weekend with lots and lots of rain, so walking the dogs wasn’t anything we were looking forward to doing. We also didn’t have a choice, so we saddled up the dogs (and ourselves) to go brave the loathsome weather and complete the unenviable task

As we walked along the river with the rain pelting us like we were its only target, we encouraged the dogs to quickly complete the task. If you have a dog, you understand that this does absolutely nothing to getting the task done. They don’t mind the rain, it’s of no bother to them. So we continued to walk (longer than we ever do) in the rain as it began to soak through my jacket. My mind had one focus and that was to get this job done right so I didn’t need to repeat it sooner then was necessary—which would have put me back out in this foul and unpleasant downpour, yet again.

We all have tasks that we don’t want to do, at work AND at home. Part of me is simply empathizing with you about these tasks. The other part of me is encouraging us to do it right and do it well so we don’t need to repeat it. Ask yourself, “Is this the best?” “Is this MY best?” The best isn’t always necessary, but sometimes it matters. Look around at your work today and ask yourself, “Is this my best?”

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
