A week ago, Sunday, we didn’t have anything to do so we decided to take the Citi Bikes out for a spin and see how far we could go south, toward Jersey City. It was a beautiful day and we had nothing to lose. Our plan was to dock the bikes as soon as the path ended or when we no longer liked or enjoyed the journey.
We almost stopped at the train station in Hoboken, only one mile into our journey, but then realized we could walk our bikes through the train station and proceed from there. We ran into a lot of what looked like, “dead ends,” that weren’t really dead ends at all when we got closer. In the end, we went as far south as the Statue of Liberty National Monument. It was a fun ride, we explored a lot, and we didn’t let a few “dead-ends” stop us.
The unknown is scary, I get it. I’m the one that almost made us stop 1-mile into the journey because of the unknown. I asked myself, “Would we be safe? Would we be forced to ride on busy roads I didn’t want to be on on a bike?” But the answer was simple, “Go until then! We can always turn back.” Unfortunately, in life, we shut the journey down before it even begins. We don’t explore or test the possibilities. We create ALL of the road blocks and obstacles in our minds and then never get on the bike. Today, BE BRAVE. Start out. Explore. Go on an adventure—because you can’t get from here to there if you don’t move.
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
