“Our lack of confidence is not the result of difficulty. Difficulty comes from our lack of confidence.” ~ Seneca
I was on a call with a client yesterday that I have worked with for a long time now. She has been through a lot, but she’s really in a very good place. It’s not that all the challenges have gone away, not by a long shot! No, what has changed is her! She’s stronger, more confident, more resilient, more forthright, and so many “mores!” She’s a rockstar.
“Self-confident is not something that can be given to you. It must be earned through hard work and determination.” ~ Aristotle
When she mentioned how confident she feels now, I told her that the confidence she feels is a result of all that she has successfully navigated over the past year or so. That confidence was building each time she conquered another fear or overcame another adversity. No sailor gets confident in his or her sailing ability on calm seas—no, they get confident by successfully weathering the angry and tempestuous storms one after another.
So today, with the help of Seneca and Aristotle, I want you to think about your self-confidence. I want you to think about the storms you have successfully weathered. And as you begin to think about each one, because I know there have been many, I want you to sit up just a wee bit taller. Tap into your greatness. You might not be where you want to be right now, most of us aren’t, but it doesn’t mean we should forget about what we’ve accomplished. You and I have EARNED this self-confidence, and it wasn’t easy, so let’s embrace all that we are!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
Beth
