I was reading a blog the other day and and the headline read something like this, “I got the best fashion advice EVER the other day!” I instantly thought, ‘Wow, I could certainly use the best fashion advice EVER!’ I was surprised to learn that the advice was essentially this: Stop saying all the negative things you verbalize about yourself when you get dressed. You know what I mean, right? It’s things like, “Do I look fat in this?” or “Does this look OK, or is it too (fill in the blank, young, old, etc).
You might think we are talking about clothes, but I believe it goes way deeper than fashion. “The best fashion advice EVER,” isn’t really about clothes, it’s about self-confidence, and since we get dressed EVERY day, its a great place to start. Why do we instantly find the negative? “The clothes make the man,” isn’t too far off the mark because when we feel confident in what we are wearing it changes how we behave. Do you know the piece of clothing in your closet that, when you wear it, it makes you feel extra confident?
So let’s give that some thought. A piece of clothing can make us feel confident—or not? Hmm, that’s really, really powerful. Today, I want you and I to think about those articles of clothing and simply ask ourselves a few questions like, “Why do I feel different when I wear this?” How could I harness that confidence every day? What does clothing have to do with how I feel about myself? How can I use this knowledge to become more confident?
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
