There has been a book on my desk for over a year now and I have never so much as cracked the cover, until today. It got placed on my desk during the move up to Hoboken. It must have been in our living room amongst the many books in our bookcases. It was most likely purchased when the bookcases were first built many years ago and we were trying to fill them. The book is by Stephen Covey and it’s titled Everyday Greatness.
Without having read one page of this book, what does Everyday Greatness mean to you? It certainly made me think this morning. Greatness every day seems like a lot doesn’t it? Part of me thought, “I am almost certain I try to be great every day,” but then I thought, “But am I?” Does starting your day with the thought of ‘Everyday Greatness’ change the way you approach the day? It has to, right?
So what will you and I do differently today to practice everyday greatness? Will you be great at work? Or at home? Do you need to be nicer or more available and present? When you think of everyday greatness, who comes to mind? Do you know someone who is already doing it? Greatness is a tall task and everyday greatness is even taller, but I believe simply thinking about this has already changed my mindset for today. What about you?
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
Beth
P.S. If you thought of someone who practices Everyday Greatness, tag them here, please. They deserve it. The first person who came to mind for me was Bruce Main at Urban Promise International.
