I was listening to a guided meditation over the weekend, and the instructor was defining fear based on a quote she had heard which was, “fear is the distraction between you and your potency.” I thought that was a really good description, although I would most likely exchange the word “power” for the word “potency.”
Give this idea a real moment—what are you currently afraid of doing? Is it work related or more friends and family? Is it relationship driven or is it more of an action? Whatever it is, and I know it’s something, take a moment to realize that fear is simply distracting you (and me) from actually doing it. If we can see fear as the distraction that it is, that’s half the battle, right?
We have the power within us to actually accomplish this thing, and now we understand fear’s role—distraction so that we won’t be successful, it’s the “safer” route. Do you remember the movie, Up? Do you remember the dog, Dug? And finally, do you remember, “Squirrel!” Of course you do, and that is exactly what fear is! The main thing is the main thing, do not let fear get in the way, because once we know that fear is the distraction between us and our power, we can take control!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
