Yesterday morning, as I was traveling back into Hoboken at about 9 am, I watched the morning rush of people scurrying about. I saw many mom’s with their strollers, young ladies, dog’s and their owners, and one couple. What jumped out at me was that everyone was face down staring at their phone—everyone except the couple.
Has it come to the point where we can’t simply walk and be alone with ourselves? If so, this is really sad. I see people pull out their phones while they are out to dinner with other people! I think to myself, ‘What are you doing? You are here, with your friends!! What could you possibly be looking at that is more important than a night out with your friends?’ And, btw, it’s rude. Really rude.
Today I get to rant about the cell phone. I have my moments too, so I’m calling all of us out. Put the phone away when you are walking alone and when you’re with friends! If you are looking at your phone and you are with other people, please know this: You have just said to those you are with, “I found something that is way more important than you and I’m going to look at it right now, even though I know I am being rude, because that is how important this thing is to me!” And if anyone, on their deathbed, has said, “I wish I had spent more time on my phone,” please let me know.
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS,
Beth
