I was watching the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday on T.V. It was a rather exciting game as they went into overtime against the Washington Commanders. What caught my attention, but what is also so obvious, is that the whole game is about moving forward. And as long as you keep moving forward, within the parameters of the sport, you can keep the ball. The end zone is the target every time—because that is where the points are scored. Football 101, I know.
What’s your “end zone?” What is your target? Are you moving forward everyday, or is your “end zone” not defined? Is it not in sight? No quarterback gets into the huddle before the play and says, “We could probably just stay here,” or “I really don’t know what we should do next.” Football is easy because the game is defined. Life is a little more complicated.
I thought the football example might help us define the targets for ourselves. Just look at the remaining part of 2023 as our next “possession.” What do we want to accomplish in the next 3 months? We could have a few categories: financial, career, social, health, family, spiritual, and personal development. Take a close look at each one and set an achievable target for each one. Can you imagine how you will feel on December 31st if you’ve achieved even half of them? Hello! TOUCHDOWN!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
