“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”
~ C.S. Lewis
I love when a quote makes me think and laugh! I hope we never look at an egg the same way again. I love how Lewis starts out by acknowledging how hard it must for an egg to turn into a bird. That feat is amazing, right? An then, as if this egg hasn’t already done enough to become a bird, now the bird must fly! It’s a lot.
The same is true with us. In some way we started out as an egg, hatched into a bird, and now we must fly. Do you believe you are “flying” right now, or do you believe there is a next level for you that you haven’t reached yet? I can only speak for myself when I say I know there is a next level. I don’t want to be “just an ordinary, decent egg.” I want more. What about you? Do you want more?
Lewis says our options are, “hatch or go bad.” “Hatching” is scary because it’s outside our safe and cozy shell we call our comfort zone, but isn’t “going bad” worse? Going bad is definitely worse. Can we both agree to “hatching” today? What does “hatching” mean to you? To me it means doing something that scares me so much that I have been procrastinating and I guess my subconscious was hoping it would go away. Procrastinating means I have chosen, “go bad,” and Im not choosing that—ever!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
