Target Practice

My mother-in-law was visiting us from Saturday until yesterday. She is a very young 80-something, current with technology, and actively uses her fit-bit! She and I both have step targets each day and we were dalkingiscussing how we try to reach them.

Here’s the wonderful thing about targets (or goals): Once you reach it, you feel satisfied and happy. You feel a sense of success and achievement. And an added bonus—you feel wanted and needed if it’s a target you helped achieve as part of a team. The only caveat I will add here is that it has to be achievable, not too easy but also not too hard.

So we created a team! Currently it’s just me, my MIL, and my BIL. We each have our own step targets and we check in each day, just like you would with Wordle. We are holding each other accountable to reach these step targets which will only go to serve each of us individually. The psychology of an attainable target is so powerful: satisfied, happy, successful, achieved, and needed. That’s a good day!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
