Motivational Monday

I noticed something really interesting yesterday while I was watching the Philadelphia Eagles game—and this has nothing to do with the Eagles or even football, really. It was absolutely miserable in Philadelphia yesterday. It was about 48 degrees with 15 mph winds and it rained for the entire game, yet the stadium was packed. The game went into overtime—and essentially no one left. Why did this intrigue me?

It made me think of all the things I hear people say they can’t do. They can’t get a new job, they can’t speak with their boss, they can’t get their finances in order, etc., yet I watched people sit in the pouring rain for over 3 hours cheering on their team as if it were a beautiful sunny day! So is it, “I can’t,” or “I won’t?” I get it, some of these things are hard, but we can do hard things! Philadelphia showed that to me yesterday! Say it out loud, “I can do hard things!”

Whatever it is that you really, really want—a new job, a better relationship, more money, less stress, a healthier body, etc.—I want you to know that you can have it! It might not be simple and you might have to get uncomfortable, maybe even very uncomfortable, but you CAN have it. In Philadelphia, it was the expensive ticket and the love of the team that made the fans persevere, maybe not in that order. Why will we do it for our team and NOT for ourselves? Aren’t you (and I) worth it? Maybe we aren’t the one who would sit in the rain, but I assure you, there’s something else that puts us in the same boat. Ask yourself, “Why will I do it for others, but not for myself?”

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
