I’m currently doing a 21-day meditation with Deepak Chopra on Gratitude. I think of myself as a very grateful person, but I found out that one can really dive into gratitude at a much deeper level, and that’s what I am currently doing.
Yesterday, on Day 2 of the meditation, Chopra asked us to think of something we were grateful for and to say a heartfelt, “Thank you,” to this person or thing (not directly, we simply had to think it), but it didn’t end there. He then asked us to see and feel this person or thing receiving our, “thank you,” and responding by acknowledging that the gratitude was received. That uplifting response is the two-way flow of gratitude and appreciation and it had such a more powerful impact on me then my usual one-way thoughts of gratitude.
Let’s give it a go. Think of three things that you are grateful for in your life. If you need an idea, choose a person, a place, and a thing. Start with the person. Think of how grateful you are that this person is in your life and send thanks to him/her (in your mind’s eye). It’s important to feel this thank you in your heart and allow yourself to smile as you think of this person. Now imagine this person is aware of your thanks—see him/her smiling back at you as they receive your sincerest thanks. This gratitude is returned back to us as grace. My heart felt so full as I did this exercise and I hope you find the same is true for you.
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
BETH
