“Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it.” Unknown
This is really a perfect trifecta! All three can be challenging as stand alone actions, but if I had to pick one that I thought everyone could use help with, I couldn’t do it. I believe #2 and # 3 are almost inseparable and aren’t used nearly enough. Once I became a coach I realized how quickly (and often efficiently) things could be expedited by getting help.
It’s Friday, so let’s be brave! What do you really want help with? If you had the best help, what would change for you? Would this thing get done faster, better, or maybe just get done, which wasn’t going to happen by you alone? Take a moment and write it down right now. Is it a new job, or something with your health and well-being, or maybe it’s financial? Someone can help you! You’re smart, you know getting help is the right answer, now you need to be brave and ask.
Action Steps: Who will you reach out to today who can help you? You can officially hire someone to help, but that costs money. You, most likely, already know someone who can help you, but you’ve let either your pride or your ego (or both) get in the way of actually getting the help you need. And here is a REALLY fun fact: people like to help! They really do. You probably like to help, don’t you? So give someone else the opportunity to help. Asking for help isn’t weak, it’s SMART! Ask any CEO, they do it all day long!
Let’s GO!!!! WE GOT THIS!
