We Can’t Change The Mountain

Have you ever gone on a hike? Especially one that you’ve never done before? Usually someone in your group has done a little research about the hike, but it’s still a lot of unknowns. And even if the researcher has done all things possible to know what’s in store for everyone, there’s always the chance that somehow (in my experience), you end up on a different trail altogether. Does any of this sound familiar?

The beautiful part of hiking, in my opinion, is that we don’t know what’s in store for us, but we do it anyway! There’s usually no turning back. We can’t change the mountain. We keep going, even when it’s hard, until we figure it out and finish. It’s so exhilarating when the hike is complete. For me, I’m proud of what I have accomplished.

If you’ve ever gone on a hike, you’ve proven you can do hard things. You’ve proven that you can do something without knowing all the details. You’ve proven that, along the way, you won’t turn back or quit when things get tough. You’ve already proven your grit, your fortitude, your perseverance, and your courage. You’ve done all of this already! Now, ask yourself: How will I apply all of this to my job? Or my life? It’s the same thing. Don’t kid yourself that it’s not. If you’ve been brave in the woods, then you can be brave at work. We can’t change the mountain, but we can change us.

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
