I have been in Orlando, Florida at a conference for the past 5 days listening to some absolutely amazing speakers. The most well-known speaker was Deion Sanders, and I am going to get to him later this week. But today, I want to mention a speaker that you might not know. Her name is Jamie Kern Lima and not only is she an entrepreneur, she’s also the co-founder of IT Cosmetics, a company she started in her living room and sold to L’Oréal Paris for $1.2 Billion, becoming the first female CEO in L’Oreal’s 100+ year history.
Kern-Lima wrote a book, Worthy, that I absolutely have to get my hands on for so many reasons. One of her opening lines, when she spoke in Orlando, was this mighty and important statement that many of us need to reflect on: “I doubted myself out of many things.” Mic drop. She could have stopped there! How many things has doubt kept you from in your lifetime? Doubt is the enemy—it’s the enemy of our growth, personally and professionally, it’s the enemy of our imagination, and our faith, and our progress. It’s the reason we aren’t where we want to be. Suzy Kassel once said, “Doubt has killed more dreams than failure ever will.”
So today is a NEW DAY! What is “doubt” doing in your life right now that is not helping you succeed? Say it out loud, “Doubt is my enemy!” And if we want to get more clear on this enemy, we should remind ourselves that it’s actually “self-doubt,” that’s often the biggest enemy. We do doubt whether something is realistic or plausible, but it often comes back to the doubt we have in ourselves. The universe favors the brave, and it will often rise up to meet us when we actually begin to move forward. Can you be brave today? I will join you! And go buy the book, Worthy!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
