“Successful people are not gifted; they just work hard, then succeed on purpose.”
—G.K. Nielson
Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “Wow, why does it come so easy to others and not to me?” We’ve all had those kind of thoughts at some point, I believe. It looks as though it was easy because we saw them when it had already happened—but that is never the whole story.
I’m not trying to convince you that everyone takes a hard road, because that is not true. Some have had it easier than others, but successful people will tell you that a lot of hard work went into their success. And, their success was intentional and on purpose—they chose to grind so that success would happen. Most, if not all, who run a consistent four-minute mile do so because they worked hard and trained.
Why do we think successful people are gifted as opposed to hard working? Does that thought, that they are gifted, make us feel better? Does it let us off the hook so we don’t have to work hard? We succeed on purpose. Ask any doctor or lawyer about their success—they knew that they had years of education and very long hours at work before they would see the fruits of their labor. Success happens on purpose when we put in the work.
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
