Tonight, Holly and I will be hosting the first class of our workshop, Speak Up! Presenting for Results. I’m always excited when a new class starts, regardless of what I am teaching, but this one is special. Public speaking is not something someone usually wakes up one day and says, “Today is the day I conquer that fear!” No, people hear public speaking and run for the hills! I get that, the fear is real.
What I am amazed at is the number of people who aren’t afraid, but also aren’t very good. I share that simply to point out that sometimes we need to be self-reflective and ask ourselves: What am I good at that I could be better? What would better mean to me and my income? What have I overlooked because good was good enough, for a while?
This isn’t about public speaking, although it can be. It’s about anything in our lives that once we got good, we stopped trying to get great. We all need a kick in the pants every once in a while, and while I am doing it for me, I thought I’d do it for you as well. Good is the enemy of great, but it doesn’t have to be forever.
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
