“You are not in competition with anyone! So start cheering for everyone, including yourself.”~ Mel Robbins

I heard these brilliant words when I listened to a Mel Robbins podcast that my daughter shared with all of us. The podcast was “Things I Wish I knew in My 20’s.” It’s really good even if you’re not in your 20’s.

I wish we all cheered for everyone, but sometimes we are in a crappy place and we don’t feel like being happy for someone else because we are feeling badly about ourselves—is any of this resonating with you? Have you held back cheering for someone else? Were you ever resentful when someone else got a promotion or a raise and not you? Of course you did, me, too! It’s human nature but it’s not making us feel any better by NOT cheering for everyone. Arguably, it’s making us feel worse.

The truth is, their raise isn’t preventing anything good coming our way! There isn’t a finite amount of raises or promotions or any other kind of wins. By celebrating other people’s wins we are demonstrating that we know the win is coming for us, too. It’s not only creating good karma for us, if you believe in that, it’s making us happier! YES, happier! If we can be happy for others, we indirectly create happy for us. And who doesn’t want to be happier? I DO!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
