Have you ever given any thought to waking up? As my aging dad used to say, “I woke up, it’s already a good day!” Although I always laughed when he delivered this classic senior citizen one-liner, there is really so much truth in his statement. Additionally, “waking up” has so many metaphors that can be attached to it, but I’m going to highlight the most basic one, especially since it’s Monday.
Waking up means we have a new day, a clean slate to work with! We can DO anything! We can BE anything! It doesn’t have to be the same old, same old. We often say, “Back to the grind,” but waking up is an opportunity to change anything we want to change. We often choose to step back onto the treadmill of life. Repeat that out loud—We CHOOSE to step back onto the treadmill of life. We have agency which means every day we have control over our thoughts, feelings, actions, behaviors, movements, decisions, etc.
Back to my dad. You woke up, it’s ALREADY a good day!!! What are you going to do with today, that you wouldn’t have done had you not read this post? Were you going to mindlessly walk into this Monday, repeating what you’ve done every other Monday prior, or is today the day you make a change? Are you awake? Will this day control you or are you going to control it? Agency. #wakeupcall
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
