What Brings You Joy?

I was recently tasked with writing out what brings me joy by my coach. As I have shared before, if your coach doesn’t have a coach—get a new coach! Seriously! This particular coach that I see periodically is an energy coach, and she asked me, “What brings you joy? Skip over the family, children, partner part. Beyond that.” She said, it might be harder than I would think. And she was right.

I started writing, and at first it was easy, but then I stopped. I wanted my, “This brings me joy” list to be pages and pages long, but it wasn’t. Embarrassingly, I decided to google it! I got a lot of other good ideas that I hadn’t thought of like climbing into my bed with freshly cleaned sheets and the greeting I get from my dog when I walk through the front door after having been gone. Joyful!

What I realized was, it doesn’t matter how long your “This brings me joy” list is and googling it shouldn’t be embarrassing. What matters is how you feel when you think of each item. The clean sheets and the dog may have resonated with some of you. Maybe not. Maybe yours is having someone say, “Let me know when you’re home safe,” or laughing so hard you’re crying AND your face hurts! What I am trying to say is, write the list. Google it if you want to,, you’ll get so much more. And really enjoy the time thinking about all the wonderful things that bring you joy and how they make you feel! Feeling it is the priceless part.

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!

PS Yesterday, in the elevator, I asked the cutest little Campbell Soup kid lookalike to press the button for my floor for me. His face lit up and he immediately turned to the panel to complete this new task—although numbers weren’t his thing, LOL. He eventually pushed #6. You could see how proud he was to be operating the elevator for all of us! Pure JOY!
