We are headed into Labor Day weekend folks—I, honestly, cannot believe the summer is over already. The last thing you need right now is a hard push for the fall, so I will share what was shared with me last night at yoga.
There was a 4pm yoga class last night at Urban Souls Hoboken and it fit perfectly into my schedule, so I signed up. The class was a Gentle Yoga class and I thought that was exactly where my body was at yesterday. The instructor was amazing and a perfect fit for gentle yoga—she was sweet, caring, and soft-spoken. She opened the class by asking us to think about where the word, “gentle,” was supposed to meet us. Was it with our body, or our thoughts, or our emotions? Her question got me choked up a bit, I hadn’t even thought of “gentle” pertaining to anything but my body. She opened my eyes to how much I needed “gentle”in my own life.
As we wrap up the summer, consider where you might need, “gentle,” in your life right now. Are your thoughts about you gentle and kind? Look at your physical body—are you working too hard or working out too hard, does your body need rest? And what about your emotions? Are you being gentle there as well? Gentle has never been my theme or my lesson, but it’s a good one. If you live in the US, gentle doesn’t even come on our radar, especially with ourselves, but sometimes it’s exactly what we need. Just a “gentle” reminder.
Let’s GO! We got this!
