The other day I was journalling and out of nowhere I wrote, ‘I declare…’. I don’t use that word—ever, so it really struck me. Who says that other than Scarlett O’Hara? After the Declaration of Independence and then Gone with the Wind, I believe it fell out of use—until today!
When you write or speak, “I declare,” you are not messing around. It’s a power word, for sure, and I was using it for myself to myself. When I said it out loud, I stood up a little taller. “I declare.” The word “declare” has its Latin roots of (de) intensive prefix and (clarare) to clarify—make clear, reveal, disclose, announce. What would you like to declare today?
The Declaration of Independence was not a wishy washy document. The Founding Fathers were not messing around—they had decided, collectively, that they were severing ties with England. What do you need to declare today for yourself? What have you been wishy washy about that you want or don’t want in your life? What do you need to DECLARE this morning, and maybe every morning, until it’s set in stone for you? I already declared, now I want you to do so, too. Write it down and let’s see what changes when we declare. Heck, the Founding Fathers created a new country when they declared!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
BETH
