It’s a new year and I am sure you have made a lot of resolutions and goals to make 2025 your best year ever—and you are likely on fire! Good for you! Me, too! The new year is such a great time to level set. I had such a great time looking over last year and deciding what I wanted this year. Revisiting last year was a trip down memory lane, but my view of this year comes completely from my imagination.
Our imagination can be amazing—like it was for me as I envisioned 2025—or it can be awful as we “see” all the possible pitfalls and obstacles that could stand in our way. January is usually a good month for all of us we embrace, “New year, new you,” but by February, our imagination reverts back to our “worst-case scenario” thinking. Why is that?
Our brains are wired to prioritize potential threats as a survival mechanism to prepare us for danger in uncertain situations. While this is sometimes helpful, it’s also not! We need to be thinking about what could go right, otherwise we will always see the possible danger and not the possible success. What would happen if every day we asked ourselves, “What if…,” and none of our answers could be negative? After our, “3 Things I am Grateful For,” maybe we should add, “What if….” and let our imagination run wild!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
