This morning, I drove my daughter to Newark Liberty International Airport at 5:30 am. She was headed to a work trip in Florida with her new job and she had asked me earlier in the week if I could drive her. Without hesitation, I said, “Yes!” We had a few hiccups on the drive this morning, like looping around the airport once more than was needed, but we had a great time chatting about all kinds of things (which may be why we ended up looping around twice, LOL) and we may or may not have cursed Apple Maps.
My husband had asked, “Why doesn’t she just Uber? You’re going to sit in a lot of traffic on the way home.” This was such a good point and a valid question IF efficiency was my goal—which it was not. 5 am is my “happy hour,” and if I can spend my “happy hour” with my daughter and helping her out when essentially nothing else is happening in my life, why wouldn’t I drive her to the airport? Efficiency is important but it doesn’t always trump everything else, like quality time together.
To be fair, our daughter will arrive home this Friday night at 6 pm—and I told her Uber is her best option. The traffic will be horrific getting to her at the airport and on our return—efficiency prevails this time! When I arrived home this morning, there was a text from her that said, “Thank you so much for driving me!!! So so helpful and greatly appreciated! Love you!(heart emoji).” Everything can’t be about efficiency—it’s like living life (work or home) in black & white instead of color. Look at your life today and ask where you are being asked to slow down and get a little color back in your life! I know my heart is full this morning because I lived it in color!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
P.S. I had a computer glitch yesterday with WordPress, so Motivational Tuesday it is!
