Yesterday, I couldn’t help but see all of the daffodils in bloom everywhere! They are such a joyful flower for me and they confirm spring has arrived in New Jersey—finally! But there are some things you might not know about this colorful little beauty.
Daffodils are a sign of good luck in Wales and China. Daffodil sap is toxic so they can’t be mixed with other flowers. A natural compound in daffodil bulbs, called narciclasine, is being researched to combat aggressive forms of brain cancer. And daffodils contain a compound, galantamine, which is used to treat the symptoms of Alzheimer’s. Who knew, right?
Did you have daffodils in a box? I did. I had completely underestimated this welcome sign of spring. How can we apply this to all the people around us that we, without thought, put in a box? Are they white or black, rich or poor, smart or dumb? People are just like daffodils – multifaceted. There is one box we all fit into—the desire to be loved. So how would your day change if you put everyone in THAT box?
With Gratitude,
Beth
P.S. Here is an old video you might remember about putting people in boxes https://youtu.be/jD8tjhVO1Tc
