“Stand up straight and realize who you are, that you tower over your circumstances.” ~ Maya Angelou
Depending on who you are, it’s likely you are looking at this crisis from wildly different perspectives. What do I mean by who? Men, by human nature, you fall under the provider category, so it’s likely that you’re less worried about catching the virus then you are about job security, finances, and the economy. Ladies, we are a little different.
Women are nurturers by nature, so it’s likely we are more worried about our our children, our parents, or even us catching the virus. And if you’re a single parent, it’s likely you will take on both nurturer as well as provider hats. So what does this mean and how can it help all of us?
Compassion and understanding begin with an awareness of where someone is coming from. These are only general guidelines, so it may warrant asking the question, “What are you most worried about?” But most importantly, for all of us, Angelou nailed it: Stand up straight! We can tower over our circumstances if we choose to do so. And if you are faith-filled, you should be standing even taller as you come as a package-deal at all times. Stand tall—now get even taller than that. Yeah, that’s about right! Let’s go! We got this!
With Gratitude,
Beth
