Keep On Truckin’

Have you ever thought about truck drivers, especially now during the pandemic when their work is so critically important to the transportation of our food supply? Not only have they been aptly dubbed our frontline heroes, but they also hold a really important explanation in how to achieve success.

Truck drivers, by definition, go from point A to point B. That’s their job and they do their best to traverse the distance in the most efficient and expedient way possible. They make a plan, they execute it, and then they are rewarded for doing so. They don’t question whether it is the right the time to make the move. They don’t ask their friends and family what they think. They don’t wonder if it will be too hard or if they’ll fail. Nope, none of that happens. It’s a simple formula: make plan, get in truck, execute plan, get paid. Simple, right?

The same is true for us! We want to get from Point A to Point B in our career or in our life, so why aren’t we moving forward? How much time are we going to give to thinking about this? You really want this, right? Well, if truck drivers acted like us, we’d all be starving. And you know who suffers the most from our inaction? You and me. Today, begin to make your plan. Give yourself a deadline for its completion. And promise yourself you will start driving toward Point B. Please! I know you want this, now LET’S GO!

With Gratitude,
Beth
PS Your plan is NOT going to be perfect, nor does it have to be. The plan isn’t always prefect for the truck driver either, but that never stops him.
