Why are we afraid to fail? Why have we created a culture where failure is essentially frowned upon? If I asked you if failure was good or bad, you’d likely say, “Bad,” right? Or, you might say, “Good,” because that’s the answer you thought I was looking for, but subconsciously, you’d be thinking, “Bad.”
Failure is how we learn and grow. Failure, to me, means the person who failed is: brave, courageous, fearless, daring, clever, smart, bold, adventurous, nervy, gutsy, gritty, nimble, crafty, resourceful, brilliant, and more! Not failing, on the other hand, is playing it safe. And playing it safe has a completely different set of adjectives attributed to it—I’ll let you decide what they are.
Today, I hope you will look at failure differently. I hope you will embrace the thought of failure, as a surefire means to an end that you are looking for. If, along the way, you don’t fail, kudos to you! But if you do have a failure or two, I hope you look back at these key words I chose to describe what I believe failure exemplifies and know that I was describing you all along! Let’s GO! We got this!
With Gratitude,
Beth
