“When you’ve been strong for so long, sometimes you just need to be alone and let the tears out.” ~ Unknown
We don’t know what people are going through, even when they come to work and have a smile on their face. We just don’t know. Life is not easy. And maybe the people we are thinking about, who are hurting, aren’t even our colleagues, they are actually us.
We are strong because what other choice do we really have, right? Curling up in a ball isn’t really an option. No matter how hard it is, we have to get up each day and face it head on. We all have something—no one gets away unscathed. Is it your kids? Is it your family? Is it a relationship? Is it your situation? What are your wounds?
Today, as we head into this holiday weekend, let’s start by being kind. Be kind to ourselves and to others. We all have some raw wounds that we desperately want to heal. Some are new and others we have been nursing for a while now. Regardless, the pain is real. We might not be able to make it better, but we certainly don’t need to make it any worse. Love, for ourselves and others, is a great place to start.
