“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” ~ Rumi
I recently submitted an application to Over 50 Outside: 52 Hike Challenge. They were looking for women over 50 to get outside and complete 52 hikes in a year. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to have been one of many women chosen to accept this challenge and complete this task.

I’m in a private Facebook group with all of these women and each one has shared their story of why they hike, why they applied, and what they are looking to get out of this 1-year journey. I was truly humbled reading their amazing stories. Some of these women are incredible athletes, some live in incredible locations, and some have incerdible stories—but we are all in this together to get outside, enjoy the benefits of nature and exercise, and to bond (virtually) over this experience. No one wins, that’s not what this is about.

In life, if we don’t inspire, motivate, and support one another, we have no business being in contact. My 52 weeks of hiking just began, but this can’t just be for me. If you want to hike, let me know. If you know of a group I should be leading on a hike, reach out. Is it inner-city youth, people battling cancer, or someone who has never hiked before. Or maybe you’ll do your own 52-week challenge. Getting outside is good for the soul, and if you bring someone else along, that’s two souls getting recharged and connecting—and that, my friends, is what it’s all about!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!!
