Last night on my monthly The Wake Up Club Book Club call, I brought up two particular dates in the book: September 21st and September 29th. They both have great quotes. We only had time to discuss September 29th so I’m discussing September 21st with you today! “You will never outperform your own self-image,” is the quote. The author of this crackerjack is unknown, and it’s almost more powerful that way.
What does this quote even mean? Think about your self-image right now. How great are you? Are you Tom-Brady-great? Or are you not that great? I hope the power of those two questions has started to sink in. Tom Brady set out to be the greatest QB of all time. He had the metric available to him. What metric are we shooting for? Greatest accountant? Or are we stuck in all the muck and mire of “not as good as,” or “not good enough?” When I asked you if you were Tom-Brady-great did you immediately think of all your flaws and shortcomings?
Let this sink in: “You will never outperform your own self-image.” If that’s the case, then let’s change our self-image, for cryin’ out loud! Cancel the pity party and start thinking about how great we are capable of being if we could simply begin to believe it to be so! Oh, it’s more than possible, my friend! But it all begins with our belief in ourselves and then it’s followed up by the action steps we’re willing to take. Remember this: self-image is the image we have of ourselves, and on any given day—we can change that!
Let’s GOOOOOOO! WE GOT THIS!
