“I think that not being perfect has given me the freedom to keep getting better.”
~Gigi Hadid
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this quote! I was talking to my friend, Karen, yesterday and she was articulating her thoughts on perfectionism and what a hinderance it was early on in her career. She so beautifully state, “The fear of making a mistake is the mistake!” YES!!! That’s it, right?
Some people pride themselves on being perfectionists, but I think it’s a bit like being handcuffed if, in fact, it is preventing us from courageously moving forward. A perfectionist asks themselves a different question than risk-takers. The perfectionist asks, “Is it perfect?” while the risk-taker asks, “Is the risk of losing this opportunity greater than the risk of going after it?” They are both worried about regret, but for completely different reasons.
Today, let’s ask ourselves this question: If I wasn’t worried about making a mistake, what would I bravely and courageously do to help myself grow both personally or professionally? I believe that we would grow faster if we part ways with perfectionism and embrace the thought of the possibility of mistakes. The truth is, nothings perfect, so let’s shoot for progress over perfection. Does this sound good? Thanks Gigi and Karen!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!

P.S.Make sure you act on that thing that you decided that you would bravely and courageously do!
