Friday’s Quote

“Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.” Napoleon Hill

I am one of those people that just wants to know. I hate when people give vague or cryptic answers like, “I can’t attend, something came up.” What? What came up? I want to know. Or like last night, I heard the Kansas Men’s Basketballcoach, Bill Self, will be out for the entire tournament due to an undisclosed illness. What’s wrong? I want to know. And I know it’s none of my business, but I simply hate not knowing.

So, back to Hill’s powerful quote about failure and success, in that order. If we have something in our life that we are defining as a failure, how can we possibly stop there? Don’t you want to know what happens if you keep going? Don’t you want to know what is possible beyond that failure? Regardless of what it is. It could be work, or relationships, or personal, but don’t you want to know how it ends?

I am also someone who always finishes a book, even if it’s not so great—you get it, I need to know how it ends! Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I am fiercely addicted to knowing how things turn out. I know failure and success are on the same road, success is just further down the road. Failure isn’t a dead-end unless we make it so. It’s up to us. “Just one step beyond (our) greatest failure.” Are you willing to take one more step?
