Motivational Monday!

(Bear with me on this one, I will be in a better position to explain a little later)

I have been coaching for just over 9 years near now. A lot has happened in 9 years. If you asked me, “Are you a success?,” I’m certain I would hesitate to answer that. I might start the sentence with, “Well,…”. I know for a fact that my knee jerk reaction would not be, “Absolutely!” And it’s not because I haven’t achieved a great amount of success. This wouldn’t be about defining success, it’s larger than that. And I am thinking it’s an issue you might have as well.

There’s always more I want to achieve. You, too? And as a result, there’s this lingering “failure” thought because the next thing hasn’t been achieved yet. Why isn’t there an equally powerful and recurring “success” thought that habitually gets repeated, ad nauseam, in my head? Why?

So today, as an exercise for my own good, I’m going to list a few of my successes and fearless achievements to remind my brain that this, too, has happened. I am a published author and my book is on Amazon.com, I have the most amazing clients and I know I have been instrumental in their success, I am working on an incredible joint venture with my college roommate, I have created over 15 different learning programs that I am so proud of (Difficult Conversations is my favorite), I have given numerous presentations here and in Europe, I have learned so much over these past 9 years, and I am proud of who I have become along the way. I’m sure there is more, but I needed to let that part of my brain know I’m not a failure. It’s a journey and, although there is more to achieve, much has happened that I am very proud of. I hope that you will take this opportunity to list all the things that you have accomplished so far! And it doest have to be work related. I’m equally proud of helping care for my mother, raising my children to be good people, and preparing our home for it’s eventual sale. Life is a journey, it’s not done yet—so that, in no way, means failure—it means still in progress! You’re awesome and don’t let your mind tell you anything different!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
