“Patience is not simply the ability to wait—it’s how we behave while we are waiting.” ~Joyce Meyer

This has been quite a week for Doug and I. I shared the good news of two weddings back to back, having so much fun with friends and family at both events. What I haven’t shared is that on Monday, Doug and I got caught in the Unitedairlines weather debacle that happened here on the east coast. To summarize: we waited at Logan Airport for 12 hours only to have our flight cancelled, rented a car (story in and of itself), arrived home at midnight, and have spent the better part of the last four days at EWR or on the phone trying to locate our bags—which are apparently still in Boston! Good times, right?

Ten years ago, I would have lost it on just about everyone in this story, including Doug. I don’t know if it’s age or all the energy work I do, but I have remained calm and patient throughout this whole ordeal—although we all yelled at a man who cut the long line at Newark Airport, but it was after midnight, the crowd was hanging on by a thread at that point, and was not tolerating that kind of behavior, (lol). P.S. it didn’t change anything, he still cut the line.

“The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.” ~ Leo Tolstoy

How do you behave when things aren’t happening on your timeframe—at work or at home? We could have yelled at any or all United employees and expressed our discontent, but to what end? I think yelling was probably going to make us all feel worse, not better. It certainly wasn’t going to get my luggage back faster. I’m not happy about what happened, but this is absolutely teaching me how to be a more patient person. It’s also teaching me what is important—I want my favorite clothes back, but they’re clothes. Who I love is here, what I love is replaceable. Patience. Time. Lesson learned.

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
Beth
P.S. If you’d like to say a prayer for our luggage to actually leave Boston and arrive at Newark, I welcome that prayer with open arms!
