Over the weekend, my cousin, Bob, was in town from Utah. We decided to head out to the US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing, NY. We saw some really amazing tennis players like the young Spanish phenom, Carlos Alcaraz, and our very own Buffalo native, Jessica Pegula. But as much as they wowed us with their incredible tennis capabilities, it was someone else who stole the show for me.

As we watched two young women, Zheng and Bronzetti, slug it out on a side court, there was another young woman practicing with her coach on the court right next to this battle who was working equally as hard—in a wheelchair. I can’t even begin to explain how incredible it was to watch her. What she was able to do was incomprehensible to me, yet I was watching it happen right before my own eyes.

It’s September and Q4 has begun, perhaps a bit unofficially if you’re a stickler for dates. Whatever you and I have put in the “impossible” category is simply not so. Watching this young lady play tennis confirmed this fact for me—almost nothing is impossible, but believing it will always make it so. So today we get to decide if we want to keep that dream in the “impossible” category, or do we want to learn a valuable lesson from the entire wheelchair tennis community? As always, it’s our choice. Choose wisely.
