We have spent the past four days with my cousin, Bob, and his daughter, Paige. They come to NYC every year around now from Utah to get in the Christmas spirit, visit us, and have some fun. We do a lot, but it’s in a very relaxed fashion. There is no harried schedule or agenda that we have to meet, but we do have a plan each day that leaves room for the serendipitous moment of fun and exploration.
Friday night they came over to Hoboken to have dinner at one of our very favorites, Olivia’s Restaurant. Six of us sat down to eat and sometime after appetizers, my nephew and his lovely wife saw us in the window of the restaurant and popped in. They had already eaten, but we made room for them at the table. Conversation was bubbling over from all directions. It was an absolutely joyful couple of hours!
On the walk home, Bob said, “It just doesn’t get better then that!” I really gave his statement some thought—”It just doesn’t get better then that!” Eight people, some of whom had just met, sitting around a table chatting up a storm about everything and anything, joyfully laughing—now that fills the soul. Keep this in mind as you move forward into this holiday season. It’s the people that are important. Period. Go enjoy your people. Be with them. Say, “Yes,” to them. Break bread with them. Life is short and we need to create, “It just doesn’t get better then that,” moments. So let’s go create!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
